Sere Kaniye, Syria – Kurdish fighters of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) regained the Dahmaa village in the countryside of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeastern Syria, after clashes with the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS), military sources reported on Thursday.
After fierce battles with ISIS, the Kurdish units seized control of the Dahmaa village (25 km southwest of Sere Kaniye) a YPG fighter told ARA News.
The YPG’s advancement came after two days of retaking the township of Mabrouka from ISIS militants.
“In the last few days, our forces made a remarkable progress towards the ISIS-held city of Tel Abyad (Gire Spi) in Raqqa province,” the YPG fighter told ARA News.
“The Kurdish forces are currently fighting the terrorists in the vicinity of Rawiya village west of Sere Kaniye,” the source added, pointing out that Rawiya is the last village of Sere Kaniye’s countryside which is still under the control of the radial group.
